OAKLAND, Jan. 8, 2020 -- Wooden Table Baking Co. specializes in making the best Argentine alfajores this side of the equator. Popular throughout Latin America, alfajores are shortbread cookies joined with dulce de leche (thick caramel-like deliciousness). Alfajor fever is highly contagious and has led to the spread of our cookie empire - from Western and Rocky Mountain distribution in high-end supermarkets such as Whole Foods, Gelsons and Mollie Stones to smaller-scale boutique shops like the Cheese Iron in Maine. Our Oakland-based commercial bakery also fulfills direct online gift and corporate orders and supplies our downtown cafe as well as local events and establishments closer to home. Wooden Table currently produces over 30,000 cookies per week, reaches over 400 stores, and has the capacity to easily double production. This year, over 1 million alfajores leaped into customers’ mouths.
Wooden Table Baking Co. is proud to be a diversity supplier with a national reach. We are immigrant-owned, women-led, and certified as an LGBT-Owned business. Our company’s sales have continuously multiplied since our founding in 2011, when Founder Andreas started selling alfajores door-to-door to San Francisco coffee shops. Sales for 2017 reached $730k and $960k in 2018.

Our Oakland brick and mortar bakery/ coffee shop/ Argentine tiendita recently turned two. When we opened our cafe, we wanted folks from all walks of life to gather, share yerba mate and Argentine treats, and celebrate culture. We are overjoyed that this is exactly what is happening at our monthly Argentine-themed events. Hosting Tango peñas (sing-alongs), guitar concerts, sidewalk milongas, Trucco tournaments and World Cup viewings has resulted in our being voted “Best Place to get Your Urban Gaucho On” by our in-store llama. Sharing is what we do best.
About Wooden Table Baking Co.
Wooden Table is owned and operated by the dynamic duo and couple - Andreas and Citabria Ozzuna. Our head baker, Andreas, grew up outside of Buenos Aires and learned to cook from their grandmother. “It is from her that I inherited my love of cooking. I remember being next to her at our wooden table making raviolis, gnochi, tarts every weekend! A whole spoonful of dulce de leche in my mouth as a reward when she wasn’t looking.”
We named our company after this shared wooden table - to honor the heritage on which our company’s recipes are founded as well as the shared experience of cooking and eating that fosters love and community. We believe we are truly sweeter together - Juntos es más dulce!
